Look who showed up at our house after the deluge . . . Kermit! I've never seen a green frog in San Antonio, only little toads.
His movements weren't what I expected. He reaches and twists a little with every step, kind of like a gecko in slow motion or a rock climber extending his leg for the next crag.
Okay, this is my first time ever to say this - but that's kind of a cute frog. I'm extremely phobic of anything ampihibious, so consider this akin to estatic praise from any normal human. ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't know about cute but he was vibrant and a novelty to watch. My cousin, who studies bugs in California and Hawaii for a living, says it looks like a Squirrel Tree Frog (Hyla squirella). I wish I had heard the little guy sing because, evidently, that's how they get their name. They sound like a agitated squirrel or a rough duck quack.
ReplyDeleteI have little Kermits EVERYWHERE. They're very cute and sweet. They also sing really loudly, especially right after a rain. Great shots of him!
ReplyDeleteCute green frog. Sure beats my fake one at the back door under the Hosta.Frogs are one animal I never see in the city. Never a toad either. Very nice blog and a good photo of the frog.
